Academic Language and Literacy Architects: Language Building Through Culture and Identity

Academic Language and Literacy Architects is designed to engage elementary through postsecondary educators in becoming language architects.

AVID Elective — New (for Elective teachers who are new to teaching the AVID Elective class)

AVID Elective — New is designed for middle and high school educators serving as new AVID Elective teachers and new AVID Coordinators who teach the AVID Elective class and may also coordinate the AVID College and Career Readiness System at their school site.

AVID Elementary K–2 is designed for primary educators to explore strategies and resources focused on pre-emergent and emergent learners.

AVID Elementary 3–6 is designed for educators to explore strategies and resources focused on diverse groups of learners.

AVID Excel — New (for teachers who are new to teaching the AVID Excel class)

AVID Excel® — New is designed for AVID Excel teachers, site administrators, and District Directors who are new to AVID Excel. This session will explore the Foundations of Instruction to make informed and intentional decisions about instruction appropriate for long-term English learners.

Creating Engaging and Rigorous Classrooms

Creating Engaging and Rigorous Classrooms is designed to empower all elementary through postsecondary educators to create an engaging and rigorous community of learners by preparing educators, counselors, and site leaders to scaffold student success with rigorous content.

Cultivating Writing Schoolwide — Elementary

Cultivating Writing Schoolwide — Elementary is designed to empower elementary educators with foundational knowledge and strategies to increase their skills and confidence in using writing as a powerful tool in a 21st century learning environment.

Fostering an Equitable and Engaging Culture in Classrooms is designed to address and meet the need for K–12 and postsecondary educators, counselors, and site leaders to foster an equitable and engaging culture for learning.

History/Social Science

The History/Social Science learning experience is designed for history, social science, and humanities educators (grades 6–12) to apply engaging, inquiry-based strategies that will increase students’ ability to think, read, and write like a historian.

Instructional Coaches and Elective Educators

Instructional Coaches and Elective Educators is designed for grade 6–12 elective educators (e.g., art, world languages, music) and instructional coaches.

Leading Change for Educational Equity

Leading Change for Educational Equity is designed to empower site- and district-based leaders to employ a systemic approach to college and career readiness through the implementation of AVID Schoolwide. For an optimal learning experience, attending with a team of at least 3 is highly recommended.

Leading Change for Educational Equity 2: Culture (one-day session designed for teams)

Leading Change for Educational Equity 2 (LCEE2) is designed as a follow-up to the Leading Change for Educational Equity training that introduced school teams to the four AVID Schoolwide Domains. Partners can select up to four days of training focusing on the Domains (Instruction, Systems, Leadership, and Culture) for their LCEE2 professional learning experience. This offering explores Culture.

No Limits: Transforming Literacy Through Content-Area Reading is designed to engage elementary through postsecondary educators in realizing what happens when we leverage reading in all content areas to eliminate literacy gaps.

This Science learning experience is designed to support science educators in grades 6–12. Educators will experience learning using collaborative structures to build science literacy through inquiry.

Tutorology is designed for experienced AVID Elective teachers, AVID Coordinators, and other educators seeking to support AVID tutorials.
