This Science learning experience is designed to support science educators in grades 6–12. Educators will experience learning using collaborative structures to build science literacy through inquiry.
They will engage in rigorous instruction using a variety of digital tools and Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR®) strategies. Learning topics include digital interactive notebooks (INBs), focused note-taking, reading and writing for disciplinary literacy, and collaborative structures to enhance inquiry.
Participants will engage in both synchronous and semi-synchronous learning. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced can be leveraged in face-to-face or virtual learning environments.
- Implement all aspects of the focused note-taking process through a digital interactive notebook (INB) to increase students’ comprehension, retention, and organization of scientific content.
- Implement all phases of the critical reading process for students to engage and interact with rigorous scientific text.
- Utilize and implement successful collaborative structures to elevate the level of rigor in science.
- Empower students to take ownership of their learning through the implementation of rigorous, inquiry-based strategies.
